Volunteer and Make a Difference!

We depend on volunteers to make a difference in the lives of the youth we serve. There are many avenues to explore – depending on your expertise, interests, or schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering at HPNC on a regular basis, you can get started by filling out our Volunteer Application and e-mailing it to us at info@hpnclub.org or bring it in when you come to visit. One of our staff members will follow up with you soon.

If you are interested in helping out at a special event, contact our Development Director to learn about upcoming opportunities.

Special Event Volunteer Opportunity:

HPNC’s 52nd Annual Pancake Breakfast takes place June 2nd this year.  Volunteers will be needed before (8 – 9 am), during (9 am -1pm) and after (1-3 pm) the event.

Volunteers needed as:

  • Kitchen workers
  • Pancake flippers
  • Table bussers
  • Coffee and juice servers
  • Bacon and sausage runners
  • Bacon and sausage Grillers (outside)

We need individual volunteers or groups of 5-10 workers per 1 hour shift. And of course, pancakes after your shift!

Not available on a Sunday morning? Help us set up the night before. We need 5-10 helpers from 4:30 – 6 on Saturday, June 1st to get the tables and equipment ready for the big day.

For more information or to sign up for a shift, contact Sarah Diwan,

Weekly, ongoing volunteer opportunities:

Infants & Toddlers:  Lead play or organize toys and books in our quiet playroom, play with kiddos in Tot Lot, lend a helping hand in Messy Art, help with one of our many special events, such as HPNC’s Valentiny party, Halloweenie party, or one of our summer picnics.

Elementary, Middle, and High School Programs: Volunteers provide literacy assistance, homework help, and mentoring. There are opportunities for one-on-one and group tutoring. We are always interested in talking with volunteers who wish to share their specific experience or interests through new classes or workshops! Volunteers have introduced our youth to improvisational comedy, archery, gardening, composting, and more.

Green Spaces: Want to plan, plant, and produce? We have a big “backyard” garden and lots of perimeter areas that are in need of tender loving care.  We would particularly love experienced help with our after-school program’s vegetable garden – but all help is welcome.

Events & Admin: Are you a behind-the-scenes person? Events such as our Tot Lot picnics, our annual gala, or Pancake Breakfast require lots of volunteers to make them successful fundraisers.  There are always ongoing office projects that need a helping hand as well.
