We depend on volunteers to make a difference in the lives of the youth we serve. There are many avenues to explore – depending on your expertise, interests, or schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering at HPNC on a regular basis, you can get started by filling out our Volunteer Application and e-mailing it to us at info@hpnclub.org or bring it in when you come to visit. One of our staff members will follow up with you soon.

If you are interested in helping out at a special event, contact our Development Director to learn about upcoming opportunities.

Upcoming Special Events

August Tot Lot Picnic: August 23rd 9am – 1 pm

Tasks include cutting up fruit, setting up child furniture in Nichols Park just North of HPNC, overseeing craft tables and games, and managing the snacks table. Please contact Cristina at calexander@hpnclub.org  for more information or to sign up.

110th Anniversary Celebration: October 31st 6-8 pm Set Up; November 1st  Event, shifts between 3-10:30 pm

Set-up will occur on October 31st in the evening – our own way to celebrate Halloween! We need 3-4 strong individuals to help put up our stage and arrange tables and 3-4 others (no need to be strong) to prep tables, decorations, and other misc. tasks.

The actual Anniversary Celebration will be on Friday November 1st from 6-9 pm. We need volunteers for final set up (3-6), throughout the event for activity stations (6-9), and afterwards for clean-up and take down (9-10:30 pm).

Contact HPNC Development Director, Sarah Diwan at SDiwan@hpnclub.org for any inquiries.

Weekly, ongoing volunteer opportunities:

Infants & Toddlers:  Lead play or organize toys and books in our quiet playroom, play with kiddos in Tot Lot, lend a helping hand in Messy Art, help with one of our many special events, such as HPNC’s Valentiny party, Halloweenie party, or one of our summer picnics.

Elementary, Middle, and High School Programs: Volunteers provide literacy assistance, homework help, and mentoring. There are opportunities for one-on-one and group tutoring. We are always interested in talking with volunteers who wish to share their specific experience or interests through new classes or workshops! Volunteers have introduced our youth to improvisational comedy, archery, gardening, composting, and more.

Green Spaces: Want to plan, plant, and produce? We have a big “backyard” garden and lots of perimeter areas that are in need of tender loving care.  We would particularly love experienced help with our after-school program’s vegetable garden – but all help is welcome.

Events & Admin: Are you a behind-the-scenes person? Events such as our Tot Lot picnics, our annual gala, or Pancake Breakfast require lots of volunteers to make them successful fundraisers.  There are always ongoing office projects that need a helping hand as well.
